August had some excellent full-length releases from Evidence, Earl Sweatshirt, ShrapKnel (again! x3), Big Sad 1900, Babyface Ray, Kal Banx, Gabe 'Nandez & Preservation, Declaime & Spectacular Diagnostics and Murs. There were some other high-profile, hyped up releases this month as well...they didn't quite do it for me.

One pleasant surprise was the Metro Boomin ode to early 2010s Atlanta "futuristic swag" party rap, A Futuristic Summa. Metro's output has been up-and-down over the last few years, emphasized nicely by the one good and one bad album he did with Future in 2024. My one takeaway from this project is that the guy clearly has some level of good taste. Bringing in Young Dro, Roscoe Dash, Rich Kidz, Travis Porter (and many more) over production that feels lifted straight out of K.E. On Tha Track and DJ Spinz's 2009-2012 Pro Tools files will not be for everyone but it's exactly what I needed to close out Summer 2025.
