There are few credit lines in hip hop history that hold more weight than "Produced by Dr. Dre". He's the world's first superstar rap producer, and while he had incredible success in front of the mic as a solo artist (shoutout to his endless stable of ghostwriters: Ice Cube, MC Ren, D.O.C., Snoop, Kurupt, RBX, Eminem, Jay-Z, etc...) his lasting impact is felt most prominently behind the boards.

Dr. Dre dominated the sound of successful rap music in three different decades: the 1980s as the beatmaker (along with DJ Yella) behind the rise of Eazy-E, N.W.A. and The D.O.C.; the early 1990s as the architect of G-Funk, Death Row Records and Snoop Doggy Dogg's ascendance; and the late 1990s and early 2000s as the legend who provided instant credibility to Eminem and 50 Cent, and juice to a variety of other rappers (Eve, Xzibit, Busta Rhymes).

He flirted with a Kendrick Lamar co-sign in the 2010s but never found a third worthy apprentice after Snoop and Eminem - of the 125 tracks that made this list only one is from that decade: Eminem's 2010 "So Bad" from the mediocre Recovery. The only other track that came close is 2015's "Deep Water" with Kendrick Lamar & Anderson .Paak from the also mediocre Compton LP, which sounds like about 95% of the work was done by co-producers Focus, Cardiak, DJ Dahi & Dem Jointz.

It doesn't look like Dre will be making a musical impact on the 2020s, either, but for his legacy it doesn't really matter at this point. He's cemented himself as one of the 5-10 best rap producers of all time, with the only real knock being that he has leaned on co- (and probably ghost-) producers for the majority of his career. But he'll always be the man that made The Chronic. And Straight Outta Compton. And Doggystyle, and Efil4zaggin, and 2001, and No One Can Do It Better...
